What is Maximum loan to value?

In short

The most a lender will lend as a share of what the property is worth.

Loan to value compares the amount borrowed with the value of the property. The maximum is the ceiling a lender will go to, so a low figure means a bigger deposit and a bigger cash purchase cost. Above that ceiling, the rest of the price has to come from somewhere else. Absa allows the most, at 110%, which can cover the whole price without a deposit. 1822direkt goes to 90%. ABA Bank, Absa Mozambique and Absa Seychelles each cap it at 80%, 80% and 80%.
